Privacy Policy
PL8 CLLCT ("the app", "we", "us") is a license plate collecting game. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and what control you have over it.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app.
1. Who we are
PL8 CLLCT is operated by Kona Solutions Inc., 1160 Suncast Ln #5, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762, USA.
For any privacy question or request, contact us at wojciech@konacourse.com.
2. What we collect
2.1 Account information
You create an account using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. We receive:
- Your email address (if you use Sign in with Apple and choose "Hide My Email", Apple gives us a private relay address instead of your real one)
- Your name, if the provider supplies it
- A unique account identifier
You also choose a username and may upload a profile picture. Both are public and visible to other users.
2.2 Photos you take
When you catch a plate, the app uses your camera or photo library to capture an image of a license plate.
- The photo is sent to our servers so it can be read and turned into a collectible card.
- The photo is stored and displayed on the card you created.
- Photos are publicly accessible. Cards appear in the app's public feed and on your public profile, and photo files are served from public web addresses. Do not photograph anything you are not comfortable making public.
- Plate photos may incidentally include vehicles, people, buildings, or surroundings. Please avoid photographing people, and do not photograph private property where you do not have permission to do so.
We only request photo library access when you choose to pick an existing photo, and camera access when you choose to take one.
2.3 Location
If you grant location permission, the app records the approximate location where a plate was caught. It does not record your exact position, it never sends one, and it never stores one:
- The precise reading from your phone never leaves your device. It is rounded on the device before anything is sent, rounded again on our servers when it arrives, and our database refuses to store a finer value. All three steps round to the same precision: two decimal places of latitude and longitude, or roughly one kilometre.
- Because the rounding happens at the moment the data is written, there is no precise coordinate sitting in our database at all. It is not a precise value that we hold back from you — it is a precise value that does not exist on our side, and so cannot later be exposed by a mistake, a leak, a legal demand, or a future change to the app.
- Coordinates recorded before this policy took effect were rounded in place to the same precision.
- The rounded coordinate is converted into a city and state, which is printed on the card and is publicly visible.
- On maps shown in the app, sightings are displayed as approximate regions of about one mile rather than exact points, and nearby sightings are merged into a single area.
- We do not keep a history of your movements. Nothing in the app, and no query against our database, can reconstruct where you were more precisely than the rounded value described above.
Location is collected only while you are using the app. The app does not track your location in the background. You can decline location access, or revoke it later in iOS Settings; the app still works, and captures are simply saved without a location.
2.4 Purchases and subscriptions
Free accounts can save 2 catches per day. PL8 CLLCT Premium raises that to 20 per day and removes advertising.
Your daily allowance resets at midnight where you are, so the app sends us your device's time zone (for example, Europe/Warsaw) when it checks how many catches you have left. This is the time zone setting only — it is not a location reading, it is not stored alongside your captures, and it is not public.
If you subscribe to PL8 CLLCT Premium, the purchase is processed by Apple. We never receive or store your payment card details.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous app user identifier, your purchase and renewal history, and basic device information, and tells our servers whether your subscription is currently active.
2.5 Advertising
Free accounts see a single banner advertisement, served by Google AdMob.
On first launch, iOS asks whether you allow the app to track you across other companies' apps and websites (the App Tracking Transparency prompt).
- If you allow, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show more relevant ads.
- If you decline, ads are still shown, but are not personalized using that identifier.
You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Premium subscribers see no advertising, and no ad requests are made for them.
2.6 Diagnostics and crash reports
When the app fails or crashes, it sends a diagnostic report to our own servers so we can fix the problem. These reports include:
- What went wrong and where in the app
- The app version and build
- Your device model and iOS version
- Your account identifier, so we can tell whether a problem affects one person or everyone
Reports are queued on your device if you are offline and sent when a connection is available. They do not contain your photos.
2.7 Your collection activity
We store the plates you catch, when you caught them, the cards generated for them, your friends and follows, likes, and your progress and level within the game. Most of this is public to other users by design — the app is a shared collection game.
3. How your photos are processed
To read a license plate from your photo, the image is sent from our servers to xAI (the provider of the Grok models), which returns the plate's text and state.
- The image is sent over an encrypted connection.
- It is sent for the sole purpose of reading the plate.
- We do not send your name, email, or location along with the image.
xAI's handling of data sent through its API is governed by its own privacy policy, available at x.ai/legal/privacy-policy.
We may change AI providers in future. If we do, we will update this policy.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers needed to run the app:
| Provider | What they receive | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Account data, photos, captures, rounded locations, diagnostics | Hosting, database, file storage, authentication |
| xAI | Plate photographs | Reading the plate from the image |
| Apple | Purchase and account information | Sign-in and payment processing |
| Sign-in details; advertising identifiers | Google Sign-In and AdMob advertising | |
| RevenueCat | Pseudonymous user ID, purchase history | Subscription management |
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where necessary to investigate abuse, fraud, or a violation of our terms.
5. What is public
The app is a social collection game, and the following is visible to other users and to anyone browsing the public feed:
- Your username and profile picture
- The plates you have caught, and the photos you took of them
- The city and state each plate was caught in
- Your level, statistics, and position on leaderboards
- Your friends and follows
Your email address, your device's time zone, and your diagnostic reports are not public. Your precise coordinates are not public for a stronger reason: as described in section 2.3, they are never collected or stored in the first place.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account data and collection are kept for as long as your account exists.
- Diagnostic reports are kept only as long as they are useful for fixing problems, and no longer than 12 months.
- If you delete your account, your profile, captures, photos, and the rounded locations attached to them are deleted.
Note that a plate you were the first to catch may remain in the app's shared catalogue as a card, without your name or photo attached to it.
7. Your rights and choices
Whatever country you are in, you may ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your account and the data associated with it
- Export a copy of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
To make any of these requests, email wojciech@konacourse.com. We will respond within 30 days.
You can also control several things directly:
- Camera, photo, location, and tracking permissions in iOS Settings
- Your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions
- Your username and profile picture inside the app
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
We process your data on the basis of your consent (for camera, photos, location, and tracking), the performance of our contract with you (to provide the app and your subscription), and our legitimate interests (to keep the app working and free from abuse). You have the right to withdraw consent at any time and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are in California
We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA. You have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
8. Children
PL8 CLLCT is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at wojciech@konacourse.com and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with our hosting provider under access controls that restrict each account to its own data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us.
10. International transfers
Our service providers operate in the United States and elsewhere. If you use the app from outside those countries, your information will be transferred to and processed in them.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
